Charleston homeowners: Tips for receiving short sale approval

Homeowners throughout the state of South Carolina should be relieved to know that banks and federal officials are beginning to recognize the benefits of choosing a short sale over foreclosure. Foreclosure rates down year over year, short sales on the rise

As economic reports stream in, the status of the national and local real estate market is in a state of flux, which means there is still some uncertainty. A recent report issued by RealtyTrac, a national authority on real estate statistics, shows that foreclosures are down over the last year nationally, but rates still remain high in South Carolina.

Daily news brings mixed signals regarding the state of the national economy. Recent jobs reports showed disappointing numbers and some parts of the country are still affected by high home foreclosure rates. Locally, however, residents of Charleston, South Carolina, received good news when the area saw the highest number of home closings since June 2010. It is believed that low interest rates are one of the primary reasons sales are on the upswing.
