The key to a successful real estate transaction is in the details

The date of closing is likely a very exciting day for both buyers and sellers involved in a real estate transaction. However, one small mistake in negotiating a contract can completely sink a deal. What's more is that the standard terms of a real estate contract may be unique to South Carolina, or even Charleston County.

Be sure to mind deficiencies when proceeding with a short sale

Over the last couple years, many financially-distressed South Carolina homeowners have explored their legal options and have found short sales to be a suitable alternative to foreclosure. By choosing this foreclosure alternative, homeowners reduce the harm done to their credit score and have more control over the settlement of their mortgage debt.

Commercial property purchase may spur growth in North Charleston

Boeing's recent acquisition of 20 acres worth of property in North Charleston is a signal that the aircraft manufacturer is looking to expand existing operations. According to reports, the company purchased a series of three office buildings, representing a total of 178,000 square feet of commercial real estate.

South Carolina foreclosure sales move against national trend

A recent report from RealtyTrac, a national clearinghouse for foreclosure data, showed that the number of foreclosed homes being sold is trending downward on a national level. In South Carolina, however, the number of third-quarter foreclosure sales jumped 20 percent, as compared to sales at the same time last year.

Large portion of bank settlement used to complete short sales

One of the biggest news items of the year for distressed homeowners was the settlement reached with the nation's biggest mortgage lenders for abusive lending practices. Since that time, over $22 billion has been disbursed to South Carolina and the rest of the country to provide mortgage relief to those who need it.
