Here's some good news if you live in South Carolina. You may be surprised to know that your dollar is actually worth more for the things you want to buy in your state. An Aug. 27 report states that the relative power of the dollar in the state has prompted people to make more real estate purchases in the state.

Foreclosure rates drop in South Carolina for another month

Living in South Carolina, you've seen how the area has gone from being full of foreclosures to having fewer every month. Fortunately, that's not just how things appear; the area is actually improving. New data from RealtyTrac backs that assessment. According to the real estate website, South Carolina's real estate issues are actually getting better compared to July 2013.

Homeowner's associations may have oversight in South Carolina

If you're part of a homeowner's association, then you know there could be fees, regulations and other costs associated with joining that association and living in your particular neighborhood. Some people have been complaining about the cost of obtaining financial reports from their homeowner's associations, if they can at all. Additionally, the documents they are able to receive may come at a cost.

Coastal South Carolina costs more than inland, RealtyTrac claims

If you live in South Carolina and by the beach, then you may not be surprised to hear that it's likely you've paid more for your home than others did. According to this report from Aug. 7, the monthly cost of median-priced homes in Horry County reportedly takes a higher percentage of median income than it has ever before within the last eight years. On top of that, the data is over six points over the historic average, RealtyTrac has shown.

Foreclosures still dropping in South Carolina

If you're interested in selling your home to avoid foreclosure or other problems, then you may be happy to hear that South Carolina has been doing better in terms of housing sales. With fewer foreclosures on the market, it's a good time to get the most out of your home's value instead of having to go through the foreclosure process. In Upstate South Carolina, it's been difficult for buyers to find foreclosure residential properties, possibly because there are actually fewer people entering foreclosure.
