Despite changes, short sale transactions still have complexities

Sitting on an underwater home mortgage is certainly something to be concerned about. An unexpected life event, such as a medical emergency or job loss, could even send a financially secure family into distress. This is exactly why so many South Carolina residents have turned to short sales as a viable alternative to foreclosure.

Financing sinks South Carolina waterfront commercial land deal

Over the last couple years, the South Carolina State Ports Authority has been looking to sell a valuable tract of waterfront land. The goal was to sell the 51 acres to a developer. Recently, it looked as though a commercial real estate transaction would finally be completed after numerous attempts to sell the land fell through. Unfortunately, the most recent deal met the same fate as the others.

South Carolina housing market may shift as short sales increase

A recently released report depicts the shifting landscape of the residential real estate market both locally and nationwide. According to the numbers provided by RealtyTrac, an agency that measures foreclosure rates, the overall number of foreclosure home sales has dropped, on a year-over-year basis. However, those numbers alone do not completely tell the story about what's happening in South Carolina.

Is the residential real estate market set for major turn around?

In many ways, the economy as a whole has been sending mixed signals of recovering, but home prices may finally ready to rise consistently.
